What is this place?
Welcome to the TIE-BC Members and Book Study Blog!
This is a blog for all TIE-BC Members to come for relevant information about what is going on around the province. Information about how to start a Chapter, what is going on with the different Chapters and possible professional development grant opportunities. I am also going to include professional resources, useful links and even useful trade books that can be used in our daily teaching lives. Another area I would like to include would be any relevant professional development opportunities that may be happening, so if you would like to share any information, please do so!
I will also be hosting a Book Study this year on this site. This year, we will be looking at two different books- “Interoception, The Eighth Sensory System” and “Positive Discipline-Tools for Teachers.” These books, although quite different, are both full of strategies and ideas for supporting students in your schools.
A little bit about me.
My name is Sarah Brooks. I live on the beautiful North Vancouver Island. I work for School District #85 as a primary Learning Assistance/Resource Teacher. I am a wife and the mother of two beautiful boys; Drake, aged 9 and James, aged 4. These two keep me very busy when I am not at work! We have two dogs,Ruger – a Havachon Silky-Yorkie and Benelli, a chocolate labradoodle. When I am not working, chasing my boys around, or sitting in the hockey arena, I enjoy taking karate lessons, scrap booking, hiking, hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards and watching T.V.
It is my hopes that everyone will get a little something out of this blog. Please also feel free to email me anything you would like to see included!
